About the Tsiolkovsky State space research history museum, city of Kaluga.

Everybody knows that Tsiolkovsky is а founder of the modern cosmonautics. Lots of people know that almost all his life Konstantin Eduardovich was а provincial teacher. But very few heard of what his former girl-student passed on to her daughter.
There was а period when Tsiolkovsky taught at two schools at the same time: а vocational school for boys and а diocesan school for girls. When leaving home, the old man used to put on galoshes. He would come to one school, take off his galoshes, read lectures, put on his galoshes, and go to the other school. Pretty soon his students began to use their absent-minded teacher as а carrier pigeon for their secret correspondence. Tsiolkovsky walked along the quiet streets of Kaluga, probably lost in thought of investigating world spaces by reactive vehicles, wearing his galoshes full of love-letters. And the history of cosmonautics seems incomplete without this piece of evidence.
The commonplace and the incredible. The grand and the laughable. Reactive vehicles and love-letters. The provincial teacher and the great thinker. The history of cosmonautics and the galoshes of Tsiolkovsky. Kaluga and Mars.
